ART & WRITING

Katrina uses digital and handmade approaches to portray vibrant natural beauty and emotional complexity within, and, in opposition to, the violent landscape of the patriarchy, capitalism, and western culture. Visit her Illustration page for a delicious sampling of her work.

In her writing, she draws upon fairy tales, nature, and science to tell intersectional feminist stories of love, struggle, and defiance. Check out her Natural History Lessons blog for examples of her illustrated poems.

Curriculum

High school and college biology courses are over-packed with content, leaving students and teachers overwhelmed!

To address this problem, Katrina’s Crafty Ribosome learning resources provide structured, yet playful, ways to get beyond memorizing (and forgetting) lists of facts to learn more deeply.

These tools are for students and teachers!

Katrina’s philosophy:

“Learn to create. Create to Learn.”

Crafty Ribosome :

  • Helps students study actively while enjoying fun, carefully-sequenced activities that cover the main concepts of common biology courses.

  • Helps teachers expand content knowledge and/or gain new teaching techniques while easily copying tools for immediate use with their students.

“When I was struggling, Katrina lifted me out of the dark and into the light.”
